On the 29th of July, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the National Education Policy 2020, opening the way for large-scale, transformational reforms in both school and higher education. This is the first education policy of the twenty-first century, replacing the National Policy on Education (NPE) of 1986, which had been in place for thirty-four years.
This policy, which is based on the core pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability, and Accountability, aspires to transform India into a thriving knowledge society and global knowledge superpower by making school and college education more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, Designed to meet the needs of the twenty-first century and to bring out each student’s individual strengths.
